Poppy - Blue Mountains Botanic GardenA poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae. Poppies are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colourful flowers. One species of poppy, Papaver somniferum, produces edible seeds, and is also the source of the crude drug opium which contains powerful medicinal alkaloids such as morphine and has been used since ancient times as an analgesic and narcotic medicinal and recreational drugs. Following the trench warfare which took place in the poppy fields of Flanders, during the 1st World War, poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. Make a wish - Ferrari F458 Italia GT3 2013I was going through my photos from the Bathurst 12hr and couldn't resist but to share another one. Such a beautiful car, its lines and symbolic red colour are really emphasized in this image. Thanks to Vicious Rumour Racing for getting this car on track. Driven by A.Montermini, Bsimonsen, R.Loberto they came in with an impressive 6th outright. Hope your week is off to a good start everybody! Calming Seas - Dee Why Head
Not far from the “Don’t Jump” sign along the cliff was this spectacular view. This one is a 2 minute long exposure to really smooth out the waves crashing over the rocks and flowing in to the pool. I love the smoothness of the water and the transition of colours, blues, white, green, orange. Took me a while to figure out how to get down off the cliff to shoot from the railing at the pool but I managed to as the sun left and lights from the town took over.
Siamang Praise - Western Plains Zoo Dubbo, NSW, AustraliaSiamangs live in close-knit family groups in well-defined territories. Singing, swinging and branch shaking keep other Siamang families away. This is another shot taken with the Sigma 150-600mm lens. Getting so much use out of it :)
Nissan wins Bathurst 12hr!
Godzilla is king of the mountain once again! And what might be even more impressive is that just a few years ago, 2 of the 3 drivers were just playing Gran Turismo on their playstation before winning the GT Academy. It just goes to show how good driving simulations/games are getting, not to mention the reliability and dominance of a Nismo GT3 car. It was a fantastic event, with attendance up, full coverage by channel 7 and an amazing line up of cars. This event keeps getting bigger and better. I Look forward to seeing the mighty GTR defend its title again next year. I hope that perhaps one day, Mt. Panorama might be included as part of a 24hr series, but for now, the Bathurst 12hr is a fantastic event and is well worth a trip to see. |
