I'm not sure exactly why I like this image so much. I find it quite peaceful for some reason. It's an interesting composition that breaks some basic photography rules... But I think its the composition that creates interest. The pole is exactly in the center, the space on the left is equal to the space on the right, though with the silhouette of the Kangaroo Tail on the right it it gives the illusion of a smaller area. Perhaps this image speaks to the emptiness on the left, and the feeling of life and home on the balcony on the right. Growing up in the country I am not one for apartments, but they are growing on me. Would be interested to hear what others think of this image.

Summer Sunset at Thredbo VillageA beautiful sunset in the equally beautiful Thredbo Village, NSW, Australia

I love architecture photography, and what better than mixing it up with a beautiful sunset in the lovely Thredbo Village. This was a nice warm evening, fairly quite this time of year, but the mountain bikers sure do get good use of the mountain in the off season. I would normally ensure my vertical lines are all straight to be true to the architecture, but was going for more of an artistic shot with this one. It was quite challenging lighting to capture the entire scene, with bright lights int he shop, dark building and bright sky in the distance I had to blend multiple exposure. The Canon 6d has good low light and dynamic range, but not that good :) Looking forward to sensor technology improving to the point where this could all be done in a single shot.

This is another shot of a beautiful Giraffe at Taronga Western Plains zoo in Dubbo. It was captured with my Sigma 150-600 @499mm, 1/2000sec, f6.3 ISO320. This one was shot handheld from a moving golf cart. While you can drive around the massive zoo in your car, it is good fun to take the little safari carts around. I was pretty happy with how well this shot came out while moving. You just have to be careful while tracking the animal through the viewfinder that you don't knock your driver out with the lens! :)
