Launch Control
Very cool display by the Hot Wheels guys at the WTAC this year. Trophy truck jumps a drifting ute down the main straight. It was a super hot day with pro cars lapping a second off the lap record. I saw the hot wheels car at the V8's last week, but got a way better view today at eastern creek today :) Hope you are all having a stella weekend!
Fire Tunnel
I have been wanting to do a shot like this for a while. This is a steelwool spin through the abandoned railway tunnels near the zigzag railway. Was good fun and a little spooky in there by myself. FYI, the burning embers burn, I will remember a hat next time ;) Hope your week is off to a good start! Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 2015
Happy Race Day!!! Looking forward to the big race today. Looks like weather will be a factor which should make things exciting. Captured this snap of the Harvey Norman all female team during qualifying at Supercheap Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama 2015.
Fields of Gold - Cowra, NSW, AustraliaWell, it seemed people really enjoyed my last series. So time to share another one. I hope you like canola photos, because this blog post is full of them. I have been meaning to get some canola shots for a while now, and while I don't think I have my 'perfect' shot yet, I did enjoy the experience. I hope you enjoy this little tour around the central west near Cowra, NSW, Australia.Lazy BeesSooo much pollen, so little time. The easy life for these bees, no long flights to find their pollen. I love the layers in this shot, green crop (what is this by the way?), sheep, canola, bees, horizon. Taken with the sigma 150-600 gives many landscape opportunities.
Golden raysGod rays over the canola fields. These were shining for quite a while so had to make sure I found a shot which had both canola and the Godrays :) Duck in flight over CanolaDidn't realise this was a duck when it flew over, sees a ways from water here, but I am sure he knew were he was going. I love the layers of colour and nice contrast of the duck in the sky. Cool little blue feathers he has too :) This one was taken at 600mm 500th second at f/6.3
Green n GoldThis is one of my favorite compositions from the trip. The nice curve and mix of colour with the two opposing focal points, one natural and one man made. It is nearly like a natural ying yang symbol.
Abstract CanolaI reckon this would make a nice desktop background. Super simple and plain, but still regognisable. It's nearly split into perfect thirds, focused detail in foreground, yellow blur in background, white blur sky.
Old BeautyI love a dead tree, and what better than one in the middle of a canola field. Just beautiful. I love the the farmer doesnt cut it down for wood and to make working the field easier, but simply goes around it. I got lucky with the weather, clouds make some interest in the sky, but the sun still poked through when I needed it. If you look carefully there are actually a few birds perched in teh branches.
Shifting SkiesThis is one of my first shots with my new 10stop ND filter. It's a 30 second exposure in full sun. It got some movement captured in the clouds, they were not moving fast enough for the full effect. Yes, thats the dead tree in the middle there, just goes to show what focal length can do for different compositions of the same location.
Golden perspectiveSame location again with the same dead tree, but this one from a different perspective, taken about 5m above the last shot, really brings the canola to be the focus of the shot rather than the sky.
Golden hour hillThis shot has such an etherial feel to it. The dark storm clouds in the background contrasting with the late afternoon sun setting off to my right lighting up the fields and the trees.
Fields of Gold
Golden TreeThis one has 2 trees separated by about 10kms. An unusual composition, this gum tree is surrounded by colour, something which is quite unusual for this kind of tree. But you know me, I love to find shots which a bit different from the usual you have seen before :)
Panorama from Bellevue Hill LookoutA 51 megapixel stitched panorama. If you want this one, you can have it printed as large as you like! :) Crazy to think the new 5ds takes images this large in a single shot. It was a beautiful sunset in Corwa that evening. Bellevue is certainly a nice location to take it all in. You can see the "Golden Tree" in the bottom left of this image.
Golden calfI noticed the fog rising from a dam on my way home. Fortunatly there was a safe spot to quickly park to get this shot. It was quite dark at this stage after the sun had been down a while, but the sky was still full of colour. This is a long exposure making the moving cours have a ghostly appearance. So much colour in this shot.
Well that's it.. I hope you enjoyed the little trip in the central west around the Cowra, New South Wales, Australia. It really is beautiful this time of year (early spring). Feel free to order prints or desktop wallpapers directly from the site. If you would like to use any of these for commercial purposes please send me a message via my contact page. Hope you enjoyed!
